Fuel prices might not be as wild as they were last year, but filling up the tank still hurts. So if someone offered you free fuel for a year, you’d be silly not to want in, right?
To celebrate turning the big 6-0, Asda has launched a brand new golden ticket giveaway – and it’s a proper birthday bash.
From Friday 18 July to Monday 25 August, Asda is hiding 40 golden tickets on shelves in its biggest stores. Find one tucked behind a pack of pasta or wedged next to the own-brand beans, and you’ll be topping up your tank for free, worth £1,500 in total.
What can you win?
Each golden ticket means free fuel for a whole year or, more precisely, a £1,500 fuel voucher you can use at Asda petrol stations (excluding Express ones).
That’s more than enough to cover the school run, weekend road trips, and those last-minute dashes when someone forgets their PE kit.
How do you find a golden ticket?
There’s no form to fill in, no QR code to scan. Asda’s gone full-on Willy Wonka, with tickets being secretly hidden among products in selected stores by undercover staff.
Just go about your usual food shop, and you might strike gold. Literally.
You’ll need to visit larger Asda stores, as that’s where the tickets are being hidden. Not all locations are part of the promo.
Some 321 Asda stores across the UK are taking part, and the specific details of participating stores can be found at https://www.asda.com/terms/golden-tickets between 00:01 on 18 July and 23:59 on 25 August.
More 60th birthday perks
Asda’s golden ticket isn’t the only birthday treat going. There’s also:
- Kids eat for 60p in Asda Cafés – no catches, just cheap grub for the little ones
- Asda Rewards giveaways for loyal app users
- A flashback to 1990s petrol prices – where lucky Halifax drivers paid just 60p per litre for fuel on 16 July
- Plus, 20 community groups will each get their own golden ticket worth £1,500 to help with transport costs
Final word
Whether you’re nipping in for a meal deal or doing the big shop, it’s worth keeping your eyes peeled in Asda over the next few weeks.
One golden ticket could be the difference between “just enough for £20” and a whole year of free driving.
Good luck – and don’t forget to check behind the baked beans.
